Cincinnati-area startup’s tube technology highlighted in national engineering publication
Techreo president Kevin McNeil was profiled in the July 2026 issue of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) member magazine, exploring his path from a four-decade career at Procter & Gamble — and 124 U.S. patents — to launching a startup focused on next-generation structural tubing.
The article, by Cathy Cecere, explains the technical foundation of Techreo’s tube architecture: layered combinations of commercial metal, thin metal foil, structural adhesive, and carbon fiber that achieve up to 50 percent weight reduction versus aluminum, 20 to 35 percent less axial deflection, and vibration damping up to 50 times faster than conventional metal tubing.
The piece highlights Techreo’s focus on robotic end-of-arm tooling, where reduced weight and faster settling time drive real gains in speed and throughput, and notes the company’s pick-and-place demonstration at a local FANUC facility.
“We have a great product, but no one knows we exist. How do we get it out there?” McNeil said — a challenge Techreo is actively working to solve through outreach like this feature.
